Commercial Service – Gas Price
The price our customers pay for natural gas, which can change from month to month, includes a number of different elements, such as:
- the cost to install your gas service
- the maintenance of your gas lines and meters
- meter reading and billing costs
- the cost to transport gas from its source at the well-head
- the cost to deliver gas through a network of gas lines
- the cost of the natural gas commodity
- the cost to balance the Company’s daily supply with the daily demand
- a return on the Company’s investment in capital assets to distribute gas
The unit of measure for the cost is a therm. One therm is equivalent to 100,000 British Thermal Units (BTUs). One BTU is the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit.
