Behavioral Demand Response

With temperatures dipping down to zero and below over the next few days, we are implementing our energy savings protocol to help ease the demand on the natural gas pipeline. Customers are asked to lower their heat by 3-5 degrees for a few hours each day.

By doing this, you will not only lower your heating bill, but you will also help ensure that we have enough energy to meet the high demand during this extreme weather.

Other ways to help conserve during this high-demand window include:

  • Lower the settings on your water heater to 120 degrees
  • Wash clothes in cold water
  • Take shorter showers
  • Cover pots and pans when boiling water – and match pot size to the burner size

Lowering your heat during peak hours, between 6 -10 a.m. and 4-8 p.m., and taking a few of the steps above is all it takes to make a difference.
